The Problem: Airway Obstruction. The Solution: Stimulate and Elevate.

NozeThings (Patent Pending) were born out of the dire straits of necessity; crafted to address a problem familiar to many: sleep apnea, usually accompanied by relentless, high-decibel snoring and a cascade of side effects often mistaken as mere inconveniences. For too long, these issues have gone unaddressed, evolving from mild annoyances to serious health threats. Additionally, for most of us, even our daytime breathing habits do little to reinforce better breathing behavior.

While snoring and sleep apnea are commonly linked, they’re distinct conditions that share a root cause: airway obstruction. Snoring results from air forced through a partially blocked airway, creating a loud, disruptive vibration. Sleep apnea, however, takes obstruction to an extreme, temporarily closing the airway and causing the sleeper to choke until jolted awake by the nervous system. This distressing cycle plays out night after night, often unbeknownst to the person experiencing it, but deeply impacting their health and their partner’s rest.

The consequences of unchecked snoring and apnea go far beyond disrupted sleep. From high blood pressure and daytime fatigue to heightened risks of cardiovascular issues and even adult-onset diabetes, ignoring airway function can have severe repercussions.

Current Solutions and Their Drawbacks

So, what are the current options? Nasal dilators, CPAP machines, or even surgically implanted devices that deliver electric shocks to stimulate breathing when irregularities are detected. Each solution has its challenges—implants are invasive, CPAP machines can be costly and uncomfortable, and nasal dilators only address minor nasal airflow without solving airway collapse in the upper pharyngeal area.

The NozeThings Approach: A Reflexive Solution

NozeThings take a different approach by addressing the reflexive nature of airway obstruction. The tissues responsible for blocking airflow aren’t always misaligned; they collapse due to a lack of engagement from our autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary processes like breathing and heart rate. Since these tissues respond to stimulation, the solution lies in purposefully activating the reflex that keeps the airway clear.

Engaging the Reflex through Targeted Pressure

After extensive exploration, we identified the ideal points for nerve stimulation—located on either side of the bridge of the nose, just below the pupils, and slightly lower along the bony ridge. By applying targeted pressure to these areas, NozeThings activate the reflex that keeps the airway tissues elevated, allowing for uninterrupted, comfortable breathing.

NozeThings use a thin, flexible pad with specially designed adhesive arms to "hug" the target nerves gently but firmly, delivering continuous pressure to engage and lift the airway tissues. The result? A clear, unimpinged airway and the sensation of full, effortless breaths.
